Once at her apartment, Samantha thought Hayden would consider
his good deed done and leave, but he surprised her by walking her
to her door.  Unlocking it, she pushed it open before turning back
to him.

“Thank you, Detective,” she said.  “I think I can take it from here.”

His mouth tightened.  “We’re not finished.”

She lifted a brow.  “I can’t think of what else we have to discuss.”

“I can,” was all he said.

She sighed in exasperation.  “Fine.  Come in, then.”

Samantha and the Detective
Walking into the living room, she tossed her handbag onto the throw-covered couch before
making her way into the adjoining kitchen.  Hayden followed.

“I won’t bother to offer you anything since you won’t be staying,” she said as she opened the
fridge and took out a bottle of water.

“What you did at that bar was beyond stupid, Samantha.”  Hayden’s mouth tightened.  “If I hadn’
t come looking for you...”

“I would have managed,” she told him hotly.

He lifted a brow.  “Really?  Just what would you have done?”

That caught her off guard.  “I...I don’t know.  But I would have thought of something.”  She set
the bottle of water down on the counter.  “Now, if you don’t mind...”

She started past him, but Hayden caught her arm.  “I’m not finished.”

Before Samantha knew what he was doing, Hayden was seated on one of the kitchen chairs with
her over his knee.

For a moment, she was too stunned to do more than just lay there, then realization of what he
was about to do set in, and she struggled.  To keep her still, he clamped one arm over her waist,
holding her firmly in place while he rested his free hand on her upturned bottom.  Even through
the material of her skirt, she could feel the heat from his skin.

“What are you doing?” she demanded, craning her neck to see over her shoulder.

“Making sure that you don’t pull a stunt like that again.”

“But you can’t...oh!” she let out a gasp of surprise as her smacked her bottom.  She couldn’t
believe it – he was actually spanking her!
